Glass Recycling: Preserving Our Environment, One Bottle at a Time

What is Glass Recycling?

Glass recycling is the process of collecting used glass products and transforming them into new materials. Glass is a highly recyclable material, and it is relatively easy to reprocess glass into new bottles extracting the full values from the recycling process.  Instead of discarding glass bottles and jars into landfills where they would take thousands of years to decompose, recycling allows us to reuse this versatile material in an eco-friendly way.
Advantages of Glass Recycling
  1. Conservation of Natural Resources: Recycling glass reduces the need to extract new raw materials like sand, soda ash, and limestone, conserving natural resources. Typically, a bottle manufacturer would need to mine 110 Tonnes of raw material to replace 100 Tonnes of recycled glass fed to their furnace.
  2. Energy Savings: Producing glass from recycled glass cullet (crushed glass) requires significantly less energy compared to making glass from raw materials. This reduction in energy consumption helps lower greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.
  3. Diversion from Landfills: Glass is inert and can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality. By recycling glass, we reduce the amount of waste going into landfills, which helps extend their lifespan and minimizes environmental impact.
  4. Economic Benefits: Glass recycling creates jobs in collection, sorting, and processing facilities, contributing to the local economy and promoting sustainability.
This widespread utilization demonstrates the adaptability and sustainability benefits of recycling glass across various industrial applications.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Our mission is to pioneer advancements in glass recycling, fostering a sustainable future through proactive initiatives and industry leadership.

We Support Circular Economy

A single piece of glass can undergo recycling more than one million times, making it one of the most recyclable materials globally. Therefore, every piece of glass sent to a landfill or other fill applications, represents a missed opportunity to utilize its recyclable potential effectively.
Recycling promotes the circular economy model by keeping materials in use and reducing the need for disposal.

Increase Glass Recycling Rates

We aim to increase the percentage of glass recycled annually in WA, and ensuring that the glass recycled is returned to high value uses, contributing to a more sustainable environment by diverting glass waste from landfills, starting with initiatives like recycling windscreens.

Utilization of Recycled Glass Products in Various Industries

Our recycled glass finds versatile applications across multiple industries, including:
  • Sand Blasting: Crushed glass is used as an eco-friendly abrasive material in sandblasting operations
  • Insulation: Recycled glass is transformed into fiberglass insulation, providing thermal and sound insulation solutions.
  • Pool Filtration: Glass filtration media derived from recycled glass enhances water filtration systems in swimming pools,
  • New Bottles: Recycled glass cullet is utilized in the production of new bottles, conserving raw materials and energy while maintaining product quality and functionality.
