About us

Waglass was founded with the purpose of managing the glass collected through Western Australia's Container Deposit Scheme. Under a  contract with WARRRL, who oversees the scheme on behalf of the WA government, Waglass processes approximately 40,000 tonnes of glass annually. Our meticulous process involves crushing, cleaning, and sorting glass by color to produce furnace-ready cullet. This cullet is supplied to Orora in South Australia, where it plays a vital role in their effort to incorporate recycled materials into 60% of their bottle production.
Beyond the Container Deposit Scheme, Waglass also handles around 10,000 tonnes of plate glass from WA's window and door industry. We recycle this glass and supply it to Orora and CSR for the production of bottles and insulation. A portion of this material undergoes further processing — crushing, drying, and grading — and is marketed as bagged products for Pool Filtration, Blasting aggregate, and various coating and road marking applications.
Recently, Waglass has expanded its operations to include the recycling of windscreens, a challenging endeavor that required the installation of specialized equipment. Currently, we process approximately 50% of the windscreens available in WA. The resulting recycled material is integrated with our plate glass product supplied to Orora and CSR.
Waglass is proud to be a significant employer in Bassendean, WA, with a dedicated team of 14 staff.
Our facility operates around the clock, running 24/5 and expanding to 24/7 as demand requires.
Equipped with advanced computer-controlled systems and over 100 specialized pieces of equipment, our plant is designed to handle the complexities of glass recycling efficiently and sustainably.
